My Journey to Becoming an IEMT Practitioner

If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d one day be an IEMT practitioner, I probably would have laughed. Back then, I was just someone desperately searching for ways to feel better, to heal, and to finally stop carrying around the weight of my past.

Like many people, I’d been through my fair share of trauma from a young age. I tried the traditional routes, counsellor’s, hypnosis, NLP, endless conversations about “what happened.” And while those spaces helped me feel heard, I still felt stuck. It was as if the story of my past was on repeat, and no matter how many times I shared it, the feelings never shifted.

Then I discovered IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy), and everything changed. What struck me immediately was how different it was from anything else I’d tried. IEMT didn’t require me to retell every painful detail of my story (something I honestly dreaded). Instead, it worked with how my mind and body were holding on to those memories and emotions and gently rewired my responses. The difference was amazing. I began to feel a sense of ease I hadn’t known before, lighter, calmer, and, for the first time in years, genuinely optimistic.

That experience was such a turning point that I knew I wanted to take it further. I went on to train as an IEMT practitioner, so I could share this powerful approach with others who felt the way I once did, stuck, weighed down, and unsure how to move forward.

My background has always had a focus on supporting people. In university, I studied counselling skills as part of my degree, and later I became a recognised learning coach, so helping others to grow, learn, and overcome challenges has always been close to my heart. Alongside my work as an IEMT practitioner, I also continue to work full-time in child protection within the police, a role that constantly reminds me of the resilience people carry and the importance of safe, supportive spaces.

Now, being able to offer IEMT feels incredibly meaningful. It’s a different kind of reward compared to my time in child protection while that role is about safeguarding people in some of their most difficult moments, this work is about giving people the tools and space to heal, rebuild, and move forward with more confidence and freedom.

"For me, IEMT isn’t about erasing the past it’s about changing how it lives inside you"

For me, IEMT isn’t about erasing the past it’s about changing how it lives inside you, so you can create more peace, resilience, and clarity in your life.

So if you’ve ever hesitated to seek support because you don’t want to “go there” again, I get it. That was me too. And that’s exactly why IEMT feels like such a game-changer, it offers a gentle, respectful pathway to transformation, without the need to reopen old wounds.

If this resonates with you and you’d like to know more, I’d love to chat. Whether you’re curious about how IEMT works, or you’re wondering if it could be the right fit for you, feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to share and answer questions.
